This course is an 8-hour essential first aid ‘core programme’ for workplace first aid. Work Safe, or first aid level 1, is perfect for most low and medium-risk workplaces and will prepare your team to respond to common emergencies.
PURPOSE
This 8-hour course gives learners skills, knowledge, and confidence in providing essential first aid. It emphasises practical skills in a fun and interactive learning environment.
This course meets the qualifying requirements for Basic Life Support according to current ANZCOR guidelines (same content as unit standards 6402 and 6401) and the legislative requirements for the provision of workplace first aid.
RECOMMENDED FOR
This course is ideal for first aiders in low-risk workplaces and anyone who wants to learn basic first aid skills. It would suit those new to first aid or those renewing their certificate if it were issued more than two years ago.

PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS
The course is taught in English, and a reasonable understanding of English will be required. If you are concerned about your English, you can contact us to discuss having your interpreter attend the course.
Learners must be physically capable of kneeling on the floor to do CPR.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Current legislation mandates that all workplaces (PCBU) ensure that an adequate number of workers are trained to administer workplace first aid or have access to a sufficient number of trained first aiders.
An ‘adequate number’ of first aiders may vary depending on many circumstances, such as the number of workers, the nature of their work, the physical size of the workplace, etc.
The New Zealand Resuscitation Council, the standard-setting body for resuscitation and first aid, recommends a Basic trained responder for workplace first aid in their training framework.
