School First Aid

This course is designed around the needs of the education sector

The School First Aid course specifically applies to teachers, school support staff, and caregivers. It focuses on providing emergency first aid to children under the age of 14 within the school environment or care setting. It is a great team bonding exercise or a teachers-only day activity.

PURPOSE
This course can be presented in a 4 or 6-hour format and aims to give learners skills, knowledge and confidence when assisting children in critical situations. The course emphasises practical scenario-based skills in a fun and interactive learning environment.

RECOMMENDED FOR
This course is specifically designed for teachers, school support staff and carers. It will enable participants to provide the first response and support a child in an emergency until higher care becomes available.

It is suited to those new to first aid and refreshing first aid knowledge.

Important note: The course does not replace the Workplace first aid-compliant training nor the required biannual First aid recertification. The 6-hour programme can be used for the required biannual First aid revalidation.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

Under the current legislation, all schools must have staff trained in first aid, which generally includes how to perform CPR, use an AED and apply basic first aid skills.

For other members of staff who would benefit from training, practical training is considered best practice.

While the school board is responsible for assessing the circumstances and risks arising from their work and deciding what is appropriate, the Ministry of Education highly recommends having CPR-trained staff and possessing AEDs.

Our School First Aid course is specifically developed to address the first aid needs of the educational sector, ensuring comprehensive preparedness and response capabilities.
